I don’t really understand why people are offended by the world of Game of Thrones. Yes, it’s set during a misogynistic time period. That’s doesn’t mean the author or the reader should condone it. The story is how each character overcomes the world around them. The world is unfair for most of the characters. Whether they be Dwarf, Bastard, Cripple, or Female. The story is not saying this is the way the world should be. It’s saying that these strong characters overcame this terrible world.
If you were to read a story set during slavery that doesn’t mean you would condone the racism in it would it? It’s just like the people who want to edit Huck Finn or other literary classics because they don’t understand the context. I just don’t understand people who refuse to read Game of Thrones or watch the show because they call it sexist. They obviously aren’t getting it.
